"DON'T GOSSIP"
"Strong minds discuss ideas, average minds discuss events, weak minds discuss people.” Socrates
So easy to do...and it also says so much about you and your character when you do. Also, be careful not to step in it... WALK AWAY. Let us sharpen our characters in Christ by renewing our minds with the word of God.
"a Gossip goes around telling secrets, but those who are trustworthy can keep a confidence." Prov 11:13
"Wrongdoers eagerly listen to gossip; liars pay close attention to slander." Prov 17:4
"Fire goes out without wood, and quarrels disappear when gossip stops." Prov 26:20
What a beautiful thing when someone has your back, when you know you can relax and trust in your everyday relationships with friends and family. One feels safe and respected. Are you a trustworthy and reliable friend? Can you keep a secret?
"Do to others as you would like them to do to you." Luke 6:31 It doesn't say: Do to others like they do to you...
Always remember that God has your back. You can rest in Him. You will Reflect Him through your relationships by being like-minded to our Heavenly Father. "Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by CHANGING THE WAY YOU THINK. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect." Rom 12
Jesus was surely aware that there were some who would betray Him...He also warned us in Matthew 10 by saying: "Stay alert. This is hazardous work I'm assigning you. You're going to be like sheep running through a wolf pack, so don't call attention to yourselves. Be as cunning as a snake, inoffensive (gentle) as a dove."
In short, what I have learned and am still learning and chewing on, is to keep one's side clean. Gossip tastes sweet at first, but always has a bitter end.
Let us strive to keep our minds strong in Christ and in His Word.
