"Mercy to the Needy is a loan to God, and God pays back those loans in full." Proverbs 19:17 MSG
Hi there all, and welcome! No 17 ... "By watering others you water yourself" ...It is so easy to get stuck in our own problems, and our own people ... when we reach out to God and what He desires for those around us, He stretches our vision beyond ourselves and our problems.
Joseph (Genesis 39) was sent to prison, unfairly also! The man had two choices. He could strive to be the best prisoner in that prison (hee,hee...Captain Prison!!!)...OR he could sit inside there feeling sorry for himself, really only wasting away in his misery, being of no use to himself or to anyone in that prison.
"Two men behind prison bars, the one saw mud, the other stars."
Genesis 39:21 "But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him mercy, and He gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison." (Remain in Me and I will remain in you... John 15)
Joseph reached out to the butler and the baker, he watered them, and because of these connections, and because of God's favor, Joseph was again released from prison, paid in full, watered.
We should obviously not be doing things only waiting for the favor to be returned, we should however also never believe that the good that we are doing, regardless the circumstances, is ever in vain. You can't keep a good dog down! Keep watering, keep believing, no matter your circumstances!
with love
