2. #NationInspiration aims to inspire people to use what they’ve been given even if it feels like it does not qualify. What inspires you to be bold and use what you have?
We believe all gifts and talents are given for a greater purpose than our own; therefore we choose to be bold and share ours with the world. Hearing the stories from fans about how our music has inspired them in some way always encourages us to continue doing what we do.
3. Where do you usually gather song writing inspiration?
We gather songwriting inspiration from: listening to a ton of music, our surroundings, being in nature, life experiences, love, heartbreak, hopes and dreams.
4. Some have described your sound as “intriguing” and “refreshing”, how would you describe it?
We like that people find our sound intriguing and refreshing. In a few words we'd describe it as rhythmic, melodic, alternative pop rock.
5. Since everyone was a startup once, what tips would you give smaller or local bands looking to get gigs and airplay?
If you're just starting out your music career, continuously put yourself out there at the beginning. Do open mics, and approach various venues to start playing small time gigs to get exposure and experience. Collaborate with other artists, network at shows and make connections. Talent is key but it helps to know the right people. Once you reach a certain point in your career it's important to become more selective as to what kind of shows you play. Quality over quantity. Believe in yourself and never give up. The doors will open when the time is right.
6. Anything you would like to share? From new merch to upcoming shows/tours/songs/albums?
We recently just stocked up on some cool new merch. Besides our debut album, we now have really cool t-shirts and caps available for purchase at shows or online…www.thesweetresistance.com (coming soon) Our next exciting performance will be the opening and launch of Africa’s largest musical instrument and technology store in Midrand, Johannesburg, called MITECH. Then its opening for Pixies in JHB this weekend and at end of the month we're performing a show with Bottomless Coffee Band at Church On The Square in CT. Besides that, there's a lot of new song material in the works that we will be sharing with y'all soon enough.
