Our interview with Willie done late in 2012 has had a wonderful response so far. So many people have been inspired and touched by his story. I decided to do a follow-up interview with Willie and see how he is currently doing. (If you haven't read his first interview, please follow the link: http://nasieinspirasie.blogspot.co.za/2012/10/here-we-go.html
1. Willie, welcome back, your story has inspired so many people and has also challenged people to think twice before making assumptions about people.
How has your life changed now that many know a little more about you and your life story?
My life did not change much concerning the things I do. I noticed a change in people's attitude towards me! I get 'Hallo Willie!' from strangers. Greetings in passing are part of the recognition I enjoy and it uplifts my mood!
2. How would you like to continue inspiring people?
I see the inspiration flowing from the clients to me. Lately my walking has deteriorated and their understanding in this regard is appreciated!
3. Who or What inspires you?
3. Who or What inspires you?
People with an appreciative attitude. Those who make small-talk, smile, greet, suggest or give trays and containers to make my task easy!
4. When you are not making and selling Fudge, what do you enjoy doing? (Hobbies?)
4. When you are not making and selling Fudge, what do you enjoy doing? (Hobbies?)
what a question? Like some people asking 'why don't you work?' haha. Not much. I attend church and cell group. Maintain myself, parkinsons slows one down drastically, washing, cleaning, housework. Remember, I stay alone!
5. Do you have a message for people who have lost hope?
5. Do you have a message for people who have lost hope?
Sjoe, I do not rememeber how that feels. Hope is a lifestyle of Victory. I can now think of clever answers but they will not be sincere!
6. You are always putting little bible verses into the bags of Fudge you sell. Which Bible Verse is special to you, one you hold dear or have on your heart at the moment?
1 Chron 4:10 - Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, "Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain." And God granted his request.6. You are always putting little bible verses into the bags of Fudge you sell. Which Bible Verse is special to you, one you hold dear or have on your heart at the moment?
6. Willie, what is your spark? ( Nasie's motto: tiny spark can set a great forest on fire)
Life and the Challenges it brings. I believe in Love...1 Corin 13:7 - Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.
a Week or two after our interview Willie contacted me with the news that due to his health he will not be able to sell fudge on the street anymore and asked that I please share it. He will be working from home in Montana Tuine:
"Ek kan agv my verswakkende gesondheid nie meer fudge verkoop op die hoek van zambezi en enkeldoorn nie. Ek bedank iedereen vir hul bedagsaamheid en ondersteuning die afgelope 11 jaar. Ek woon in montana tuine en sal voortaan vanuit my huis die fudge ding doen. Indien u sou belangstel om my te kontak, vir welke rede ookal, kan u dit doen via sms of whatsapp op selnommer 0722732892 of per landlyn op 0125480105.
(Willie sells Fudge in large quantities also: 80 blocks of fudge for R200. If you would like to re-sell it is R150.
Please contact him for more info.)
Thank you Willie for sharing your story and life with NasieInspirasie. You have and still inspire many to keep going no matter what challenges life brings!
