Heart Headed - written by iskra

Living fully in a hard-hearted world

Isn't it true that one's HEART and HEAD (thoughts) are really where it all happens? Your thoughts and feelings, essentially your core.
This is where decisions take place. Serious ones and not so serious ones, however all contributing to us as people, our daily lives. Our futures.

a Person who has given up on life, for example, THINKS and FEELS himself into the deepest, darkest, lonely place...the same is true for a positive and happy heart!

This is such an old saying/story, but still so true:

“The Two Wolves”

“One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said, “My son, the battle is between two wolves inside us all. One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego. The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, generosity, empathy, truth, compassion and faith.” The grandson thought about this for a minute and then asked the grandfather, “Which wolf wins?” The old Cherokee simply replied,

“The one you feed.”

- Cherokee Proverb

The Truth of God's Word guides us in all matters of the Heart...

He says:

...Now I don't know about you,
but "the course of my life." sounds like a pretty big deal...Right up there with the forevers and the always'. The course of my life is rather important to me...Why? Because I don't want to get to the end full of hopeless regret and a wasted existence.

Life is as full in the mundane, horrible moments as it is in the happy highlight reel.
Shouldn't we squeeze every drop life has to offer?

So, Guarding the heart.
From what? Well, this is different for everyone. But I would sum it up as all that comes against that which is precious to us. What's important to you?
Is it really worth protecting in the long-run?...

some decisions are a risk, some are a no-brainer. Easy and natural. The point is to figure it out for yourself and to stick to your guns (keep your focus) in ALL the moments of life.

We guard our hearts when we surround ourselves with people and things that speak the same language as us. Building not breaking. This could be anything. Meditation, people, a habit, a place you visit, a conversation. Things you allow yourself to watch on television or of books you read...

Where do you "feed?"
Who do you "feed" on?
(That sounds a bit vampirish, but you get what I'm saying right?)

These things will determine the COURSE of your life.

The other battlefield or place that feeds are our thoughts. Your Head. The way we THINK.
We might understand what's precious with our HEARTS and guarding it, but we could lose it all if we allow negative people and things to influence our THINKING. Dark thoughts seep into the heart, hardening it.
If we need renewal of thought, a total refresh, we need to spend our TIME wisely.

WHEN it comes to being FED on the glaciers of a positive, contributing, legacy-building life, we need to straighten out our HEADS and get rid of negativity and dead-end thinking. It will destroy us from the inside out.

Letting God change the way you THINK is not something forced. It is something we ALLOW Him to do. So many people have been squeezed into a cookie-cut christian mould. God wants you to allow Him to show you what's on the table. You can look, think and decide for yourself afterwards. Unlike people, He is and remains a Loving Gentleman. Just give Him a chance and see for yourself!

Guard your Heart.
Be changed in the way you think.

My prayer and aim is to be "Heart-Headed" and not "Hard-hearted" in a interestingly beautiful, but devouring world...

much love,
iskra.

Die klippie in my skoen - geskryf deur iskra

Pfffeeeu...! Wat 'n verligting as hy eers weg is! So klein dingetjie met soveel praat in sy kneuse...daardie klippie in die skoen. (Talk about rubbing me up the wrong way!) Hoe gaan jy hierdie maand daardie rekening betaal? Jou huwelik of 'n vriendskap is dalk op 'n snaakse plek of selfs naby skipbreek? Dalk ons eie gesondheid wat 'n lelike rapport gekry het... 'n finale een...wat jou asem weggeruk het...wat jou, die mense om jou, dae en minute met '
