We are so easily bamboozled by the ‘smoke and mirrors’ and daily social pressures in today’s culture. The systems and ideas that we have allowed to shape us…
What if we just stopped…. stopped to really question our purpose?
“Is what I am doing, really what I want to be doing - for the rest of my life? What I should be doing…? What have I dreamed about doing? What would I be doing if everything was working together, in my favor?” Some of the most inspiring people in history are those who didn't just stop to ask, but who followed through on what they heard their hearts saying...the world forever changed by it.
For some years, NationInspiration has aimed all its content to motivate and aid readers to discover and use their talents, passions and find their purpose in life and to get working in that direction. It was like someone opened the heavens. Refreshing; like the rain that fell recently, when similar voices with the same message of purpose, suddenly arose from other corners…

The desert-walk is over and we can align ourselves with like-minded folk who carry the same heart and the same burden for our country and its people. People who have a hope for ordinary individuals to discover their divine purpose and courageously walk in it.
It so happened that we were invited to a pre-screening of a new Frans Cronjé film, The Roar, at the end of January 2018. This movie portrays a story of a young girl, exploring and finding her purpose. It is about using one’s God-given talents and not giving up amidst adversity.
A week before we received this invitation, our church began a three week theme and journey into scripture about calling and purpose. Simply making a study of it and taking the time to stop and listen to what God has to say to us as individuals about our purpose...Coincidence? I think not.
We had a short meeting with Frans Cronjé and his dynamic team at the last pre-screening of their Whisper Tour in George (Global Creative Films - The Purpose Campaign) and after our brief chat and receiving a copy of his new book ‘Discover Your Purpose’, it was clear that filmmaking for Frans Cronjé is not a job he does to kill the hours in the day, or to just pay the bills or get something in return, but it is his passion, his gift and a means to serve others. We watched the movie shortly afterwards and I remember being left with the resonating message, overflowing through the cinema screen; perfectly timed. Everyone will be able to connect and meet with this story. There are also comedic moments, like the “bok-drol” incident, that had the audience laughing :)

I finished reading his book and want to encourage our readers to take this question seriously. Make a study of it. What have you got to lose? You only get one shot at life.
Frans Cronjé’s book is well written with a no-nonsense approach. Not a thick, cover-to-cover heavyweight that will have you running for the hills. Deeply-principled yes, but easy to read. Woven with real life stories, values, achievements, losses and failures - all in the pages of this book. I admire his honesty and transparency in a culture that wishes to hide and Photoshop the rolls and bumps to success. What I also really appreciated was the uncovered truths about South Africans and the identity crisis that many are experiencing due to various circumstances.

It is a beautiful reminder that God is saying, “South Africa, you are Mine. Regardless of your background, income, color or culture. I have a purpose with you…for such a time as this...”
Frans Cronjé's book reminds me that we belong to God first. Our identity is in Him as children of God. It transcends culture. When we have found ourselves and our purpose in Him, we have found our true identity. This does not mean that one must remain silent about injustice. It just means that the way you give voice to this, the way you move forward and go about, must reflect and be done in the Spirit of Forgiveness and with the intention to build and unify and not to break. It also encourages me that finding and walking in one's purpose is just that! A walk, it is a process and fills up the moments of our everyday lives.
These pages share but a glimpse of the journey Frans and his family endured. Through the ups and downs, the losses and victories they shared and were shaped by. A very special reminder to stay faithful in the seasons when things seem to fall apart and make no sense at all. There is much to learn here.
I highly recommend seeing the movie and reading his book, but especially taking the precious time, reflecting, listening and deciding what it is you want to do with what you have been entrusted with. Knowing what direction, you as an individual, need to take in faith. This will change you, this will change your home, your workplace, your town, your community, and this beautiful country we live in. It is a question every South African needs to ask him or herself…
a tiny spark can set a great forest on fire.
Stopping is easy. It’s the listening and the doing that will make all the difference.

In the words of the late Myles Monroe, who has been a great inspiration to me, “The greatest tragedy in life is not death, but a life without a purpose.”
Riska du Plessis
We humans keep brainstorming options and plans,
but God’s purpose prevails. Proverbs 19:21 MSG
